Tasks

Feedback Phase Completed

Task 1: Provide completed documents to the stakeholder and site managers for review and suggestions. [Completed]

Major accomplishments: I reviewed the request for proposal (RFP) in a meeting with the stakeholder and Deputy Director of Administrative Services. This task is closed.

Task 2: Evaluate suggestions and make the accepted changes. [Completed]

Major accomplishments: Requirements and recommendations made by administrative services were reviewed with the stakeholder and incorporated into the RFP. The stakeholder has made several improvements throughout the document. The Deputy Director of Administrative Services added a new terms and conditions page and suggested that I clarify information on legacy equipment trade-in and equipment warranties. This task is closed.

Task 3: Submit to the stakeholder for final approval. [Completed]

Major accomplishments: The completed RFP was submitted to the stakeholder for approval. The stakeholder discussed a few more minor issues with administrative services before accepting the RFP. This task is closed.

Decisions
After reviewing the RFP I was not sure if it should be added in its entirety in the final report due to the inclusion of possibly proprietary information. My stakeholder assured me that it's okay to place it in the report as is.

Learning

1)
What helpful feedback did you get in the class (instructor, classmates) and outside the class (user, stakeholder, beneficiary, mentor, expert advisor, others)? What did you learn from this feedback?

I received feedback from the stakeholder and the Deputy Director of Administrative Services this week. I learned that ensuring the RFP meets legal requirement is more difficult than developing minimum equipment specifications. The document must clearly communicate "all" the business requirements.

2) What resources did you use this week (e.g., people, money, equipment, systems, or software)? Did you add new resources? What was your learning?

My resources this week were the stakeholder, Deputy Director of Administrative Services, and the RFP document. No new resources were added. I've learned that expert advisors are needed for the business side of a project as well as the technical portions. I will consider this in future project planning.

3) What research did you perform this week that was assisting and/or literature based? What is your findings/learning?

Research Question: What are the requirements and costs of network cable that will support the new equipment?

Source: To answer this question I used the following Web page links:
http://www.stonewallcable.com
I will also use my knowledge of the TETN Network Operations Center (NOC) to determine proper cable types and lengths.

Answer: The implementation of this proposal will require both Ethernet and T1 cabling between devices. Costs will be less than $200, but should be ordered as soon as possible.

Learning: Cables required for this installation should be ordered in advance. This is a task in my new installation project plan.

4) What did you learn this week in general in producing your project?

I think that the research I've done each week has assisted me in preparing for tasks coming up in the next week. Attempting to select a topic that makes this possible is important.

Indicators

1)
What went well this week? What didn't?

No problems to report again this week.

2) How well did you stick to your project schedule?

All my project tasks are completed and I'm starting on my final project report. The entire project should be completed at the end of week nine (9).

3) How prepared are you to conclude your project in Unit 10 as required in this course?

I am fully prepared at this time to conclude the project according to plan.

4) How likely is it that you will need to resort to your contingency plan?

Everything is going according to plan and I do not anticipate using my contingency plan.
