Tasks

Feedback Phase

Task 1: Provide completed documents to the stakeholder and site managers for review and suggestions. [In Progress]

Major accomplishments: The first draft of the request for proposal (RFP) was presented to the stakeholder and TETN site managers for feedback. Another copy was given to the Deputy Director of Administrative Services.

Task 2: Evaluate suggestions and make the accepted changes. [In Progress]

Major accomplishments: Suggestions were received from the stakeholder and added to the RFP. The business office recommended several changes that were added too.

Task 3: Submit to the stakeholder for final approval. [In Progress]

Major accomplishments: Awaiting completion of tasks 1 and 2.

Decisions
No real problems this week that required any major decisions. Evaluating suggested changes for addition to the RFP required a few hours of analysis and discussion.

Learning

1) What helpful feedback did you get in the class (instructor, classmates) and outside the class (user, stakeholder, beneficiary, mentor, expert advisor, others)? What did you learn from this feedback?

While the minimum hardware and software specifications remained unchanged the stakeholder did provide suggestions and corrections on several portions of the RFP. The Deputy Director of Administrative Services is reviewing the RFP and we are going to meet early next week to discuss it. This will most likely be the last task before the RFP is complete. I did learn to analyze a document to find and remove confusing or conflicting statements.

2) What resources did you use this week (e.g., people, money, equipment, systems, or software)? Did you add new resources? What was your learning?

I used the stakeholder as a resource this week. I added my organization's administrative services as a resource too. I learned a few things about the legal issues and concerns with the RFP process. I realize I need to understand the terms and conditions of this proposal as well as the system equipment.

3) What research did you perform this week that was assisting and/or literature based? What is your findings/learning?

Research Question: What are the power requirements for possible equipment options?

Source: To answer this question I used the following Web page links:
http://www.apcc.com/sizing/selectors.cfm
http://www.polycom.com/home/
http://www.tandbergusa.com/index.jsp?flash=true

I used my own personal knowledge of the power capacity in the TETN Network Operations Center (NOC)

Answer: I'm a little off subject this week, but the project is closing out quickly and I need to prepare for implementation even though it's outside the scope of this project. After this week's research I determined I have enough space, power and air conditioning for the all possible configurations of the new equipment in the TETN NOC.

Learning: As I approach the end of this project I realize I need to plan and prepare for the actual deployment of this equipment. Since I've had a lot of success with what I've learned in my Capstone Project, the same methods will be used.

4) What did you learn this week in general in producing your project?

Keep the communications lines open to the stakeholder(s) at all times. Informally discussing issues as they come up saves a lot of time in the long run. I believe they appreciate the updates and the feedback I receive is beneficial to me and the project in general.

Indicators

1)
What went well this week? What didn't?

I had no problems this week. I'm starting to consider what's next for the equipment this document will request proposals for.

2) How well did you stick to your project schedule?

I think I may complete the RFP in week eight (8) and turn in the project final report in week nine (9). I'm waiting on a final review of the RFP by my organization's administrative services division. The completed RFP can then be given to the stakeholder.

3) How prepared are you to conclude your project in Unit 10 as required in this course?

I am fully prepared at this time to conclude the project according to plan.

4) How likely is it that you will need to resort to your contingency plan?

Everything is going according to plan and I do not anticipate using my contingency plan.
